Letter to Susq. River Basin Commission Re: Fracking Water Withdrawals

On September 4, 2012 we submitted this letter to the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) on behalf of our members and a broad coalition of environmental advocacy organizations. The letter points out that although half of the applications for water withdrawals up for action this September are shale gas related, the Commission has still not taken steps to comprehensively assess the impacts of shale gas development on the Susquehanna Basin! Learn more about the Commission here.

Taking action without considering all the facts almost always leads to poor decisionmaking. That is why our coalition is working together in telling the SRBC it needs to stop viewing fracking water withdrawals in isolation, and instead it must view, study, and manage shared, public resources with science and long-term planning! Get the facts here.
