Guy Alsentzer: Director of Operations, Staff Attorney

Guy was born and raised on a small farm in the Codorus Creek watershed of Southern York County, Pennsylvania, from whence dozens of natural springs feed Pierceville Run, Centreville Creek, and ultimately the Codorus Creek and Susquehanna River. Guy’s passion for watershed conservation sprang from these humble origins, just as the Mighty Susquehanna is fed by spring water from his family farm.

Guy received a BS in Political Science and Social Action & Justice from Pepperdine University, and a Juris Doctorate and Masters of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School. Before joining Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper®, he clerked for Vermont Law School’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic, Western Environmental Law Center, and honed trial skills at a county attorneys office in Montana. Guy specializes in federal environmental law, water resources management and imperiled species preservation. He is an attorney in good standing with the State of Montana and U.S. District Court of Montana.

After living in the Northern Rockies for a few years Guy chose to move back to his home watershed to work with the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper®, Michael Helfrich. Guy met Michael over 10 years ago as a student volunteer on’Clean Up the Inky-Stinky Codorus Creek’ campaigns and “is happy to come full circle, serve his home watershed, and work with an old friend”.

Guy serves as the Director of Operations for Stewards of the Lower Susquehanna (SOLS), as well as Staff Attorney for the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper®. He manages non-profit administration, creates watershed-based environmental protection strategies, and coordinates education, outreach, advocacy, and enforcement with the Riverkeeper®. In his spare time Guy likes to keep busy with an active yoga practice and outdoor adventures alongside his Irish-Wolfhound, Bronx.
