September 2007 : Marietta Clean Up

Over the September 8 & 9 weekend, more than 160 folks came out to help remove nearly 10 tons of tires, metal and trash from a three-mile stretch of the Susquehanna along Lancaster County's Marietta Borough.

The 3 roll-off containers contained 1.96 tons of tires, 1.72 tons of trash and 1.15 tons of metal. In addition, cans and bottles were recycled. A Marietta Borough dump truck delivered an additional 4.92 tons on Monday, Sept. 10, including one GIANT tire that was 6.5 feet tall and weighed 3,900 pounds! Thanks to our sponsors including Lancaster County Solid Waste Authority, PPL, Rutter's, Turkey Hill, Timberland, United Way, and many local businesses and community groups.
